Ingrid Maass

3

“Since I was in school my parents encouraged me and supported me in seeing large parts of Europe. Later I was privileged to work on challenging projects in many European countries. I have met interesting and fun people everywhere and I firmly believe that a strong European connection is the best guarantor for mutual understanding and development – in business as well as on a personal level.

Being a mentor for United Europe builds on this conviction and I strive to support the European idea as well as the personal development of my mentee.”

Overview

Ingrid is a German national with strong international executive experience in high growth service and technology companies. A strategic thinker and philanthropist she likes to work with people on new ideas. Her areas of expertise include general and process management, finance, and organizational development.

Approach

“For the most part of my career I have worked values based: honesty, clarity, independence and humor play a major role. I have always encouraged the people I work with to find out what is important for them while looking at their lives holistically. Working internationally, it is also important to understand the role and importance of cultural differences which I hope will be a part of our discussions.”

Career History

Starting with a degree in business administration from Ludwig-Maximilians-Universität in Munich, Ingrid’s first assignment was a traineeship in the credit department of a German bank followed by a very early first management role at the same bank. Bored by banking she moved to management consulting for the following ten years and consulted to large and medium-sized international clients in a wide variety of industries.

In the late 1990ies Ingrid acted as a business angel for a Sandwich & Coffee Bar startup that unfortunately did not survive. Still, the experience brought her to a position as investment manager for IT & Telecom Venture Investments where she was responsible for a number of technology investments as well as a large exit.

Back in Berlin Ingrid then worked for a public company that was mandated to attract foreign investors to create jobs in Eastern Germany. Lured by her network she went back to consulting and took a board level position as CFO/COO in a strategic communications consultancy in Munich followed by a COO position at one of Germany’s largest trade fair companies. For the last couple of years Ingrid has managed her own boutique consulting firm and taken on a board position at a German technology company.

Personal

Ingrid lives in Berlin and Munich. She is a member of FidAR e.V. an organization that promotes for more women on company boards as well as an active Rotarian. In her free time Ingrid loves travelling, cycling and meeting friends.

„I have lived more than 40 years all over the world, outside Europe. Now that I have returned, I so appreciate the integration in commercial and cultural terms that has occurred while I was away.“

Member and Chair, Council of the United Nations University
