Overview
Marie-Theres Thiell is a German manager, who spent half of her professional life in Germany and the other half in CEE with a focus on Hungary. In her 15 years as a board member – including ten years as CEO – she gained great experience in leading business successfully in a difficult political environment. She managed various operational challenges and is an excellent networker. She is a long-standing member of United Europe.
Career History
Marie-Theres Thiell joined RWE in 1990. From 2005, she was CFO of RWE Hungary – now innogy Hungary, the regional leading company of the group in Hungary – and CFO of ELMŰ and ÉMÁSZ, the electricity supply companies in Budapest and northeast Hungary.
In 2010 she became the CEO of RWE Hungária and ELMŰ/ÉMÁSZ.
From 2011 until 2016, she was also a member of the Board of RWE East, the management company for the activities of RWE in the CEE region. In addition to her regional responsibilities for Hungary and Romania she was responsible for network coordination, grid coordination, HR, IT, health, safety and diversity.
Beside her CEO function in Hungary she was appointed as Senior Vice President in the executive committee for Grid&Infrastructure of innogy SE in April 2016, responsible for management grid activities in the CEE. She held both positions until April 2020. Currently she is member of various supervisory boards and Vice President of the German-Hungarian Chamber, where she drives the initiative Digital Network and supports the economic relations between Hungary and Germany.
